The Tacna Region has been selected to become one of the first five pilot regions for the installation of Regional Development Agencies (ARD) within the framework of the Agreement "Sustainable Economic Development and Promotion of SMEs at Subnational Level" signed by the Republic of Peru with the European Union.

TACNA's Regional Government has ratified its commitment to ARD and, to this end, is in the process of elaborating a governance structure / management model to support its implementation. For the design and installation of the ARD, different regional and transnational planning efforts will be taken as inputs, among them, the Binational Action Plans: Intelligent and Sustainable Agriculture and Adventure Tourism, both elaborated within the framework of the EU - CELAC INNOVACT Platform ('Innovation to promote Territorial Cohesion').

The Regional Development Agencies are highly specialized mechanisms in productive development and innovation, created to dynamize the regional economy and its competitiveness, accelerating the execution of regional public strategies based on the demand of the business fabric, and under approaches of concertation and articulation multi-level public, private and academic.
