In September, a new working paper called "New horizons shaping science, technology and innovation diplomacy: The case of Latin America and the Caribbean and the European Union", authored by INNOVACT member Begoña Sánchez (Tecnalia), was published. The paper is published in the framework of the European Leadership in Cultural, Science and Innovation Diplomacy (EL-CSID) project, coordinated at the Institute for European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, that analyses the relevance of cultural, science and innovation diplomacy for EU external relations, locating developments in these fields in the evolving global context.
The paper describes how the European Commission addresses international cooperation policy in a wider framework, focusing on the challenges that innovation nowadays poses to international relations and diplomacy. It is based on the evidence gained by the research team from participation in several EU-LAC projects, including results achieved through the INNOVACT Platform.
