Another major milestone has been reached in Chile-Peru cross-border cooperation: On November 27, the "Declaration of Santiago" was signed by the two countries on the occasion of the Presidential Meeting and the II Binational Cabinet of Ministers of Chile and Peru. The President of the Republic of Chile, Sebastián Piñera Echenique, and the President of the Republic of Peru, Martín Vizcarra Cornejo, met in the city of Santiago de Chile. They highlighted the high level of the binational relationship and the shared will to continue strengthening it. The full declaration can be accessed here.
Prominently, they highlighted the importance of the INNOVACT project on cross-border innovation, which seeks to promote the development of Tourism and Smart Agro in the cities of Arica and Tacna. The action plan in the project was presented on November 22 in the city of Tacna. Thus, INNOVACT successfully contributed to the strengthening of the binational relationship.
